" Home Based Business Opportunity Work At Home Job? "

When considering whether you need a website for your work from home business, think about what the purpose of your site would be. A business website can be used to conduct many different types of businesses.

Gathering Information

A website can be a great place to gather information because you have access to, literally, a whole world of people who can respond to your site. Potentially billions of people. If your business is gathering information locally, you probably do not need a website, but if you're looking for information from others outside your community, a website can be a useful tool for your home based business.

"Disseminating Information"

If you are in the business of offering information to others, a website on the Internet is a great vehicle for doing this. Estimates are that 1.175 billion people use the internet daily. Yes, that's 1,175,000,000 people on the Internet every day. And many of them are looking for information. They have questions and are looking for answers; they want information about topics as diverse as medical issues, recipes, genealogy, jobs, government, history, travel, news, people, sports, etc. They are looking for information on just about every topic imaginable (and probably some you couldn't begin to imagine). A website lets you make your information available to any number of people without regard to where they are located.

If you start an Internet business and have products to sell, a website opens your business to the world. People everywhere have access to what you are selling. If you have a store in your community, your potential customers are just those people who live reasonably close to your store. But if you open a store on the Internet, everyone is a potential customer.

"Digital Media"

If you're selling digital media, the Internet is the place to be. You could sell digital media without a website (e.g., on eBay), but most people selling digital media do have a website. Digital media can take many forms. If you are an author but you haven't yet interested an editor in your work, sell it on the Internet. Your story or book doesn't even have to be printed and bound. It can be in the form of a .pdf file (a .pdf file is a computer text file that cannot be modified), and what you're selling is the file. Your customer can either read it on the computer screen or print it on their printer. If you have a software application to sell, you can sell it in the form of a file to be downloaded to your customer's computer.

Selling Subscriptions or Memberships

The Internet is a great place to have a business that is soliciting memberships or subscriptions. Many businesses lend themselves to members joining and getting together online (e.g., in a forum) to discuss the topic at hand. You'll need a website to have an online business with members.

These business areas are only the tip of the iceberg, but they should give
you some idea of when websites are needed to start an online business.
